Phil Mickelson completed the ideal preparation for next week's Masters by triumphing at the Shell Houston Open in Texas. Mickelson sealed his first win in a year after finishing at 20-under, three shots clear of Scott Verplankand Chris Kirk, who tied for second.
After a slow start to his round - two bogeys in the first four - Mickelson was two strokes off the lead held by Verplank through eight, but five birdies between nine and 13 propelled him to the top.
Having stormed through the field by equalling the course record with a 63 on Saturday, the world No. 6 applied the finishing touches with a 65 on Sunday.
