Tiger Woods has been forced to pull out of next week's Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow, after suffering an Achilles injury during The Masters at the start of April.
Woods, who had previously been scheduled to play the event in Charlotte, suffered a "Grade 1 mild medial collateral ligament sprain to his left knee and a mild strain to his left Achilles tendon" after playing a shot off pine straw on the 17th during his third round at Augusta National, according to a statement on his official website.
He was able to continue to play in the first major of the year eventually finishing in a tie for fourth after a final round 67 - but after medical advice has been forced to withdraw from his next PGA Tour appearance.Woods, who has not hit a shot since the Masters, has been advised to rest and use cold water therapy, with soft tissue treatment to follow later this week. He is also wearing a protective boot to move around.
There is no definitive time frame for Woods to return to action.
