English Premier League results 08/05

Wolves 3 vs 1 West Brom

Wolves beat West Brom to move a point above the Premier League relegation zone and leapfrog Blackpool and Wigan.
Steven Fletcher put the hosts ahead when he slammed home after Adlene Guedioura had chested down a corner.
From another corner Fletcher headed across for Guediora to turn in a shot.
Fletcher slotted in the third after a mistake by Abdoulaye Meite and, despite Peter Odemwingie's penalty for West Brom and Jerome Thomas hitting the bar, the home side prevailed.

Stoke 3 vs 1 Arsenal

Stoke extinguished Arsenal's Premier League title dream with a deserved win at the Britannia Stadium.
Kenwyne Jones bundled home a pinpoint free-kick by Jermaine Pennant who then capped a driving run with a shot that deflected off Johan Djourou.
Robin van Persie struck from the edge of the box to give the Gunners hope but the visitors conceded two minutes later when Jonathan Walters slotted home.

Man Utd 2 vs 1 Chelsea

Manchester United moved to within a point of a record 19th title after a deserved win against closest rivals Chelsea at an exultant Old Trafford.
And United wasted no time in exerting their authority on Chelsea as Javier Hernandez struck after only 36 seconds and captain Nemanja Vidic headed the second in a blistering opening spell that established the foundations for what is likely to prove a decisive victory.
Frank Lampard gave Chelsea a glimmer of hope with a scrappy strike midway through the second half - but it was United who still looked more likely to score, even in the anxious closing stages before Old Trafford erupted in celebration as Howard Webb blew the final whistle.
